There is no single file that works on every Minecraft edition. Identify your platform first, then verify the exact project, author, loader, version and file type before installing anything.

Stop and verify
A shortened URL, copied download button, password-protected archive, unrelated installer, disabled comments, no author identity or a page that promises one file for Java, Bedrock and mobile.
Fan project is not a synonym for malware
A fan-made project can be legitimate and well maintained. It should still state who made it, what it supports and whether it has permission to use the Verity property.
Before installation
A seven-step Verity Mod safety check
Do this on the exact file page you plan to use. A trustworthy homepage does not validate a reupload elsewhere.
- Confirm the edition. Java mods do not install as Bedrock add-ons, and mobile apps are a separate route.
- Match the game version. Check the release against your exact Minecraft version.
- Match the loader. Forge, NeoForge and other loaders are not interchangeable unless the file page says so.
- Read the setup instructions. AI-powered projects may require configuration, dependencies or a local service.
- Open the file history. Look for consistent release notes, sizes, dates and maintainer activity.
- Avoid secondary mirrors. Return to the named project page instead of trusting copied buttons or APK sites.
- Back up your world. Test unfamiliar mods in a separate profile and never use a valuable world first.

What Verity JE currently says about API keys
As of August 8, the project website linked from CurseForge describes a fully local Ollama route with no API keys, accounts or cloud service.
The CurseForge description and Modrinth page still mention Groq and setup tutorials. These project-controlled pages are not synchronized, so follow the instructions attached to the exact file and version you install.
Do not copy API keys into unknown launchers or third-party setup pages. Follow the instructions linked by the exact project team and keep secrets out of screenshots, crash logs and public comments.
Mobile caution
Why a Google Play result can still be unofficial
Store review and developer identity are not the same as creator authorization. Read the app's own disclaimer and data-safety section, then decide whether it is an installer, a collection of add-ons or a project connected to the original series.
Avoid APK mirrors when the same app has an official store listing. Mirrors can preserve an old version, alter packaging or make it harder to identify the real developer.

Can I install the Java Verity Mod on Bedrock or PE?
No. A Java JAR is not a Bedrock add-on. Use the Verity Mod Bedrock comparison to check the separate mcaddon projects and their installation instructions.
Is every Verity Mod APK a virus?
No blanket claim can be made from the name alone. Prefer the developer's real store page, inspect its disclosures and permissions, and avoid copied APK mirrors.
Does Verity JE require an API key?
